Book Collection

The Collection

Established in May 2019, The Philip Nevin Martin Book Collection on Writing is a compendium of books, manuals, and workbooks on the craft of writing, all genres, book publishing, writer biographies, book marketing, and other aspects of creative writing and publishing. Owned by the nonprofit Novel-In-Progress Bookcamp & Writing Retreat, Inc., the collection consists of nearly 300 volumes. The core of the collection are books purchased by the late Philip Martin, donated to the NIP by his widow, Jean Johnson.

Philip Nevin Martin was the original curriculum coordinator and lead instructor for the first five years of the Novel-In-Progress Bookcamp & Writing Retreat. He had a key role in the development of the NIP. Cancer took Phil’s life at age 65 on March 3, 2019.

The Martin Collection now resides in the library of the Retreat Center at Cedar Valley, located near West Bend, Wisconsin, the location where the annual NIP Bookcamp & Writing Retreat are held in May.

The collection provides a valuable resource for NIP authors and writers, staff, and visitors. Martin Collection volumes are not loaned out.

Additional donations to the collection are welcomed. For more information, contact NIP Director Dave Rank, director@novelbookcamp.org, 262-717-5154.
