Why Am I Writing?

Writing is hard, as we tell you up front on our website: www.NovelBookCamp.org.

Why would anyone want to write anything, much less a novel? If your personal goal is to make money quickly and easily so you can quit a job you dislike, you’re probably sliding down the wrong slippery slope. It can be done, of course; somebody grows up to be the quarterback, or the CEO, or the next developer of the cure, but it’s a nearly impossible task to just decide one day to write a best-seller in any genre without any experience or understanding of the industry. Not alone, not without some training, and not without some kind of support.

That’s where Novel-In-Progress Bookcamp and Writing Retreat, Inc. comes alongside. We have experienced, trained professionals ready to work with you. There is a method to the madness. We can’t exactly take away the difficulty of producing a quality read that will inspire, entertain, gain critical acclaim, or sell a million copies, the movie and the foreign rights. But our dedicated group of author-instructors, visiting agents, workshop leaders, panelists, and publishers will be there for you. Most importantly, we’ll show you how to become the author you always wanted to be…if you’re willing.

Almost anyone can write something, and publish it. Here are two secrets of the trade:

  • Very few writers who begin a novel succeed in completing it.
  • Very few writers who publish a book all on their own sell more than a hundred copies.

Not every book deserves to be, should be, or needs to be a runaway “best seller.” Crafting a compelling, high-quality story is a masterful feeling. Developing character, conquering plot, creating riveting narrative are techniques in constant flux. Learn and keep up with new, fresh, unique trends in storytelling with our staff and your peers in a week-long immersion experience that teaches you the inside story of the joys and the struggles of book publishing, the feeling of great accomplishment along with the often harsh reality that creating an impressionable work is in the eye of the agent, and there’s always a way to do better.

Why does anyone want to write a novel? Novel Bookcamp helps you do more than want to write. We help you succeed.
